BY COUNCILOR GILBERT:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of human resource benefits technician, which were approved by the civil service board on March 6, 2007, and which are filed with the city clerk as Public Document No. _____________, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining unit with its confidential unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 9. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This classification has been created to assist the employee benefits specialist with the administration of the city’s benefits programs, including performing collection on delinquent employee and retiree insurance accounts, participating in compiling data on current and proposed benefit plans and researching information for contract proposals; assisting with analysis of effects of proposals and drafting proposed language; coordinating open enrollments, etc. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 9, $3,352 to $4,005 per month.
