BY COUNCILOR KRAUSE:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth hereby approves issuance of the following temporary on sale intoxicating liquor license by the liquor control commissioner, subject to departmental approvals and any specific restrictions:
Grandma’s Marathon - Duluth, Inc., Canal Park Drive and Buchanan Street, for June 15-17, 2007, with Scott Kennan, manager, with the music and serving ending at 1:00 a.m.
Alcohol, gambling and tobacco commission discussion of 4/4/2007: Scott Keenan, executive director, was present on behalf of the application. Mr. Keenan reviewed that this application is for the tent in the parking lot between Grandma’s and the DeWitt-Seitz building in Canal Park, and that they will be serving beer and wine Friday and Saturday nights during the marathon with the music and serving ending at 1:00 a.m. He further noted that they will be hiring a 17 off duty police officers and that during the day Saturday individuals 21 years of age are stamped, but in the evening no one under 21 is allowed into the tent. The clerk reviewed that in addition to this application, a special events permit is secured by this applicant and the council passes a resolution waiving the drinking in public prohibitions. There being no further discussion, Mr. Hanson moved that THE APPLICATION OF GRANDMA’S MARATHON - DULUTH, INC, CANAL PARK DRIVE AND BUCHANAN STREET, FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JUNE 15-17, 2007, WITH SCOTT KEENAN, MANAGER, BE APPROVED AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Serre seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
