RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TEMPORARY EXPANSION OF THE LICENSED PREMISES OF GRANDMA’S, INC. (GRANDMA’S SALOON AND DELI), 522 LAKE AVENUE SOUTH, AND GRANDMA’S ANGIE’S, INC. (LITTLE ANGIE’S CANTINA), 11 EAST BUCHANAN STREET.

BY COUNCILOR KRAUSE:

     BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth hereby approves the temporary expansion of the designated serving area of the following on sale intoxicating liquor license, subject to departmental approvals, with any specific restrictions:

           Grandma’s, Inc. (Grandma’s Saloon & Deli), 522 Lake Avenue South, for June 16, 2007, with the serving and music ceasing at midnight.

           Grandma’s Angie’s, Inc. (Little Angie’s Cantina), 11 East Buchanan Street, for June 16, 2007, with the serving ceasing at 4:00 p.m.


Alcohol, gambling and tobacco commission discussion of 5/2/2007:


GRANDMA’S INC, (GRANDMA’S SALOON & GRILL), 522 LAKE AVENUE SOUTH - APPLICATION FOR TEMPORARY EXPANSION OF THEIR ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JUNE 16, 2007.


Eric Robinson was present on behalf of the application. Mr. Robinson reviewed that they will be erecting an enclosed tent up in their parking lot where food, beverages, and music will be served in the tent until 12:00 a.m. He continued to say that there will be off duty police officers working in the tent along with their own security, and that during the evening hours no one under 21 is allowed in the tent. Officer Latour stated that he has approved this application. There being no further discussion, Mr. Serre moved that THE APPLICATION OF GRANDMA’S, INC. (GRANDMA’S SALOON & GRILL), 522 LAKE AVENUE SOUTH, FOR TEMPORARY EXPANSION OF THE LICENSED PREMISES OF THEIR ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JUNE 16, 2007, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Hanson seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.


GRANDMA’S ANGIE’S, INC. (LITTLE ANGIE’S CANTINA), 11 EAST BUCHANAN STREET - APPLICATION FOR TEMPORARY EXPANSION OF THEIR ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JUNE 16, 2007.


Sandy Kolasinski was present on behalf of the application. Ms. Kolasinski explained that they put a serving bar out on the sidewalk below their deck during Grandma’s Marathon while the streets are closed off. She continued saying that when the streets are opened up around 4:00 p.m., they close down that area and move back up onto the deck. To questioning from the commission, Ms. Kolasinski replied that the deck will be open until 1:00 a.m., and it will be open for the public to use without having to be a customer of the restaurant. She stated that they will hire a police officer for the night, and that they do not allow anyone into their premises after 1:00 a.m. Officer Latour stated he has approved this application. There being no further discussion, Mr. Hanson moved that THE APPLICATION OF GRANDMA’S ANGIE’S, INC. (LITTLE ANGIE’S CANTINA), 11 EAST BUCHANAN STREET, FOR TEMPORARY EXPANSION OF THEIR ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JUNE 16, 2007, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Serre seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
