BY COUNCILOR JOHNSON:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to enter into the fourth amendment, a copy of which is on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. ____________, with the University of Minnesota’s Natural Resources and Research Institute for services related to the Duluth streams project, extending the term thereof through March 31, 2008, and increasing the amount payable thereunder by $20,000, payable from Fund 535, Department 500, Organization 1915, Object 5441.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution is to authorize a fourth amendment to the city’s agreement with the NRRI for continuing the work on the Duluth streams project.
In June of 2002, the city entered into an agreement with the U of M to have the NRRI gather and interpret data from Duluth’s many streams including data pertaining to stream history, flow and hydrology, water quality and stream ecology. The original agreement was amended in 2004 to extend the contract and continue work on the project and needs to be extended to authorize work to be performed through the end of March, 2008. This work is ongoing and additional work needs to be done. A further explanation of the specifics of this year’s work program is contained in the attached memo from Rich Axler of NRRI.
This fourth amendment would fund the continuation of this work through the end of March of 2008.
