RESOLUTION APPROVING THE EXEMPTION OF A BINGO LICENSE TO THE SOLWAY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT.

BY COUNCILOR KRAUSE:

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Duluth City Council hereby approves of the Minnesota gambling control board issuing a lawful gambling exemption (bingo) to the Solway volunteer fire department and does hereby waive the 60 day waiting period which it has to object to the issuance of said exemptions.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the city clerk is hereby authorized and directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Minnesota gambling control board immediately after its passage.

Alcohol, gambling and tobacco commission discussion of 6/7/2007: Peter Hildre was present on behalf of the application. He stated that they have been asked to conduct a bingo at the St. Louis County Fair with all of the proceeds going to the operation expenses of the fire department. He continued by saying that the boards will be 25 cents and it will last about 2-3 hours for one day only. To questioning from the commission, the clerk replied that this is a one day bingo application that the state requires approval from the local governing body. There being no further discussion, Mr. Hanson moved that THE APPLICATION FOR A BINGO LAWFUL GAMBLING EXEMPTION FOR SOLWAY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT BE APPROVED AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Khalar seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
