BY COUNCILOR JOHNSON:
RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth desires to complete engineering services for the Minnesota Slip pedestrian bridge.
The city desires to hire a consulting engineer to provide the design and construction engineering services required for the repairs.
LHB Architects and Engineers has submitted a proposal for engineering services in connection with this project.
The proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with LHB Architects and Engineers to provide the city with such engineering services.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the cost of said engineering services, estimated at $34,802, will be payable from the Capital Improvement Fund 0450, Department/Agency 030, Organization 2005, Object 5530.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution will authorize the provision of professional engineering services for design and construction services for minor repairs to the Minnesota Slip pedestrian bridge. A study was conducted during 2005-2006 to determine retrofit alternatives for the electrical, mechanical and structural components of the Minnesota Slip pedestrian bridge. This phase will provide engineering services to implement the minor repair alternative from that study. Based on the city’s staff review of the proposals provided and previous experience with LHB, it is recommended that the city enter into an agreement with LHB for the services requested, at an estimated cost not to exceed $34,802.
