BY COUNCILOR STEWART:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute and implement a supplemental labor agreement with the City of Duluth Supervisory Association, the same, except for any typographical corrections, as that which is on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. ____________, that adds language requiring the city to contribute one percent of an employee’s basic monthly pay into a health care savings plan account effective January 1, 2008, and permits an employee to sell back one week of vacation in 2007.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the amendment of the 2007-2009 labor agreement with the supervisory bargaining unit and requires the city to deposit the sum of one percent of an employee’s basic monthly pay into a health care savings plan account effective January 1, 2008. The money, along with interest it may accumulate, can be used by the employee for retiree health care premiums and other medical costs as allowed by law.
By this resolution, the labor agreement is also amended to permit an employee in year 2007 only to sell back one week of vacation. Both of these benefits are in the collective bargaining agreements with the fire, police and confidential unions.
