BY COUNCILOR LITTLE:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to enter into a contract substantially in the form of that on file with the city clerk as Public Document No. ______________, between the city and the town of Superior, Wisconsin, to provide fire fighting services in the amount of $4,200 per year, said sum to be payable to Fund 100, Agency 100, Organization 1501, Revenue Source 4340.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with to provide emergency fire fighting services to the town of Superior for the amount of $4,200 per year.
For some time, the city has agreed to provide fire fighting assistance to surrounding jurisdictions on an as-available basis for a modest fee. The town of Superior has been one such jurisdiction. Because their needs are limited, they are able to look to the city of Duluth to provide adequate service at a modest cost.
The previous contract with the town ran out at the end of 2004 but the city of Duluth has continued to provide its services on an as-needed basis. The town is willing to pay for these services for past years and into the future but needs a contract to authorize it. The proposed agreement would authorize such payments for past services and would continue into the future, subject to the rights of either party to terminate the agreement without cause.
