RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY OFFICIALS TO CONTRACT WITH ST. LOUIS COUNTY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES FOR 48,073 CATERED MEALS SERVED IN SEVEN SENIOR DINING LOCATIONS FOR A TOTAL COST OF $180,153.02.

BY COUNCILOR ANDERSON:

     RESOLVED, that city officials are hereby authorized to contract with St. Louis County public health and human services for the purchase and delivery of 48,073 catered meals to seven senior dining locations from January 1 through December 31, 2008, the third year of a five-year contract, for the parks and recreation department at a total cost of $180,153.02, payable as follows:

     (a)  $130,822.16 from the Senior Nutrition Fund 272, Department/Agency 031, Project No. SD04, Object 5310;

     (b)  $47,830.86 from the Senior Nutrition Fund 272, Department/Agency 031, Project No. SD06, Object 5310;

     (c)  $50.00 from the Senior Nutrition Fund 272, Department/Agency 031, Project No. SD04, Object 5211;

     (d)  $900.00 from the Senior Nutrition Fund 272, Department/Agency 031, Project No. SD04, Object 5219; and

     (e)  $550.00 from the Senior Nutrition Fund 272, Department/Agency 031, Project No. SD06, Object 5219.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution will authorize the renewal of an agreement with St. Louis County public health and human services for 48,073 catered meals at seven meal site locations in Duluth for $180,153.02, payable from the senior nutrition fund.


Meal types include the following: (a) 46,473 regular/holiday/special days/special diet; (b) 200 meals requiring pre-preparation; (c) 200 ready-to-serve; (d) 1,000 meatless meals; and (e) 200 prepackaged frozen meals.


The contract period runs January 1, through December 31, 2008; this is the third year of a potential five-year contract.


The bidding process for this project took place in 2005; bids were opened November 15, 2005. St. Louis County health and human services department was the only bidder in 2005 and has been the provider for the past 18 years.
