POLICE/PURCH DS:le 1/31/2008

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the Duluth police department to execute a maintenance agreement with St. Louis County for computer hardware and software associated with its participation in NEMESIS for $27,500.28, payable from the General Fund 100.

NEMESIS, Northeastern Minnesota enforcement and safety information system, is a shared integrated criminal justice information system.

This opportunity exists because of a charter agreement between the host, St. Louis County sheriff’s department, and the charter subscribers - Duluth police department, Hermantown police department, Proctor police department and the University of Minnesota Duluth campus police.

The original agreement was set up when St. Louis County was awarded a CriMet criminal justice grant to implement a shared integrated criminal justice information system as the lead agency for the region. St. Louis County, as the host, sought to do this in the Arrowhead Region with the active assistance and financial support of charter subscribers listed above.
