RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of land use supervisor, which were approved by the civil service board on February 5, 2008, and which are filed with the city clerk as Public Document No. ____________, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining unit with its supervisory unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be ranges 1080-1085. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: An organizational audit indicated a need for a top-level staff person who can serve as deputy for the director of planning and supervise work including conducting complex reviews to ensure development projects are in conformance with the comprehensive plan. This position will be responsible for supervising staff and performing complex reviews to assess the immediate and long-term effects on land use, transportation, housing, recreation and economics in the city. The pay ranges negotiated for the classification are ranges 1080 to 1085, $4,632 to $5,784 per month.
