RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of seasonal groundskeeper, which were approved by the civil service board on May 2, 2006, and which are filed with the city clerk as Public Document No. __________, are approved.
HR JA:rln 3/10/2008
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This classification was created to allow the city to hire seasonal workers to perform grounds keeping work in city parks, gardens, ballfields and other recreational areas. Without a seasonal classification, the city has been limited to hiring temporary workers who can only work 67 days (100 days if they meet student status requirements), creating a shortage of workers at the end of the season. The classification and pay range were approved as part of the 2007-2009 basic unit contract. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 14A, $1,563 to $1,828 per month.
