RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter in to a contract with Kalkbrenner Plumbing & Heating, Inc., for the 2008 rehabilitation of private sanitary sewer services in basins 25 and 26 in the amount of $137,600, payable out of the Sanitary Sewer Fund 0530, Agency 500, Organization 1970, Object 5535, City Project No. 0694SN (Phase I).
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution will authorize the rehabilitation of 20 private service lines totaling approximately 1,500 linear feet by cured-in-place pipelining by Kalkbrenner Plumbing & Heating, Inc., in the amount of $137,600. The city of Duluth has a major infiltration/inflow problem resulting in sewer overflows. This private service rehabilitation project is a continuation of a demonstration program of the city’s comprehensive plan to eliminate overflows by eliminating infiltration and inflow sources. Kalkbrenner Plumbing & Heating, Inc., was the lowest bidder of the two companies that responded. Their bid was five percent lower than the engineer’s estimate of $145,000, payable out of Sanitary Sewer Fund 0530, Department/Agency 500, Organization 1970, Object 5535, City Project No. 0694SN (Phase I), Requisition No. 07-0386.
