PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The city council finds as follows:
(a) The state of Minnesota historical society (MNHS) administers United States department of interior funds, for use by certified local governments (CLG), for qualifying historic preservation purposes; and
(b) The city of Duluth has applied for financial assistance from the MNHS’s CLG grant program, for the purpose of securing professional services to conduct the second phase of an intensive historic survey of the city’s east end residential area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to act as legal sponsor of said grant, to execute any documents required to be executed to accept such grant, and to accept donations of $2,000 from the Duluth Preservation Alliance (DPA) and $1,000 from Carolyn Sundquist. The grant and donation will be accounted for in Fund 210, Agency 030, Organization 3150, revenue sources 4210-02 and 4660.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city to accept a $4,605 certified local government (CLG) grant from the Minnesota state historical society (MNHS). These funds will be matched by a $2,000 cash donation from the Duluth Preservation Alliance (DPA), a $1,000 cash match from Carolyn Sundquist, and $1,605 of in-kind match from the city planning department to fund the city’s 50 percent match. The purpose of the grant is to conduct an historic survey of the city’s east end residential area that contains approximately 16 city blocks on 21 acres.
