RECREATION, LIBRARIES AND AUTHORITIES COMMITTEE
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, a copy of which is on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. __________, with the Park Point Community Club allowing them to use Park Point property to stage the Park Point Art Fair through 2012 in an amount of not to exceed $1,500 per year, payable to Fund 100, Agency 400, Organization 1812, Revenue Source 4170-01.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city to enter into an agreement with the Park Point Community Club authorizing them to use park property for the Park Point Art Fair through 2012.
For many years, the club has put on an art fair at the park for three days in the middle of summer and it has become a major community event, bringing in approximately 110 artists and exhibitors and drawing as many as 10,000 visitors per day. In the past this has been accomplished through an annual permit.
In the desire to lend stability to this event on a longer term basis and in an attempt to reflect the benefits that the art fair brings to the community, staff is recommending a five year agreement, establishing the dates for the art fair, setting an annual fee of $1,500 and setting forth other standards and requirements including a clean-up deposit.
The agreement requires that all net proceeds of the art fair will be used to provide year-round services to the Park Point community for the betterment of all users, including, but not limited to, tree plantings, youth programs, boardwalks and publishing a monthly newsletter.
