Funding and Application Information

The Community Development Calendar shows upcoming departmental meetings, comment periods, and other timeline material for the 2011 funding cycle. The 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan is a five-year planning document laying out the goals for the City's Community Development program. Table 2A, Priority Housing Needs, can be found on page 30, Table 2B, Priority Community Development Needs can be found on page 66, Table 2C, Summary of Specific Housing/Community Development Objectives, can be found on page 67, and the Anti-Poverty Strategy can be found on page 69.

The Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) outlines the 2009 accomplishments in community development and housing. A copy of the CAPER is available here.

Program Information

The Community Development administers a variety of Federal Funding Programs. These programs originate from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community needs. CDBG funding is an annual funding cycle that community organizations can apply for including public service, public facilities, housing, and economic development.
The HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) provides funding to a wide range of activities that build, buy, and rehabilitate affordable housing for rent or homeownership or provide direct rental assistance to low-income people.Â HOME funding also works on an annual funding cycle.
The Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) is a grant program that provides homeless persons with basic shelter and essential supportive services. ESG also has an annual funding cycle.
The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) is a grant program that provided funding for stabilization assistance to homeless individuals.
The Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) is a grant program that provides funding for the purpose of stabilizing communities that have suffered from foreclosures and abandonment.
