Employment Opportunities
The City of Duluth hires regular employees under a civil service system which allows us to accept applications only when a specific job is being advertised. We also hire employees to fill temporary, seasonal positions which are not governed by the civil service system. You may apply for either regular or temporary positions when they are being advertised. Please check the space below for current openings and their requirements.
- Open - means the selection is open to all qualified applicants.
- Internal - means the selection is open only to qualified City employees who have passed their initial probation.
- Promotional - means the selection is open only to qualified Police or Fire department employees who have passed their initial probation.
- Open
and Internal - means the selection is open to all qualified applicants, but qualified City employees who have passed their initial probation receive preference in hiring.
