Examples of, but not limited to, NOT requiring a transportation permit (remaining within the weight maximums): IF an 8.5' x 12'x16' shed is positioned on the trailer so no portion of it overhangs the maximum allowance of 8' 6", a transportation permit may not be required. Oversized transports moving through Duluth on state/county highways, a transportation permit may not be required.
Escorts RequiredAny load with a width that crosses the center line or another driving lane in the same direction. Loads wider than 14' 6". Private parties moving a used mobile home under 16'x20' are required to secure a transportation permit.
Moving PermitsOriginates in Building Safety Movers without a state license must secure a transportation permit and may only move a structure less than 16'x20'.
