History

The Human Rights Office was created on October 9, 2001 under Ordinance No. 9508. The Human Rights Commission was created under the same ordinance.

With the creation of this office, the Human Rights Officer will accept and process complaints of discrimination occurring in Duluth; accept and refer complaints of discrimination to the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR), EEO, HUD, or Department of Justice as appropriate.

The officer will also work with the Duluth Human Rights Commission to promote appreciation of diversity and elimination of bias and hate within Duluth.
