Additional Mini Master Plans in Progress:

  • Cross-Country Ski Trails Master Planning - For nearly two years, Gary Larson, former Nordic Director at Giants Ridge and director of daily operations for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, led the public through a process to get input on needs of the community for  cross country skiing. Gary has worked with the Duluth Cross Country Ski Club, citizens, school and college coaches, elite athletes, land managers and more to tweak our trails. The DRAFT Master Plan is located here. Comments are welcomed. The Cross Country Ski Trails Master Planning is still underway. Additional planning and information will be added in the near future and will be posted as soon as it is available. Because of the additional information, the Plan will be presented first to the Parks and Recreation Commission and then to the City Council in the near future for their approval.
  • Central Hillside Park Plan - The City of Duluth and the Central Hillside community saw a strong need to better organize and develop a design for the Central Hillside Community Park. The park plays a major role in the community to provide recreational opportunities within walking distance for many residents and pulls the community together. The ojective of the park redesign is to design a park that will stand out in the community and be a welcoming, safe, and critical part of the Duluth parks system. Preliminary designs and additional information are available here.
