Parks and Recreation, a division of the City of Duluth's Community Resources Department, has one of the most extensive park systems in the nation. The City owns and maintains 11,862 acres including the following special areas:

- 2 Golf Courses, Each Offering 27 Holes

- Skatepark at Wheeler Field Athletic Complex
- 45 Miles of Snowmobile Trails
- Lake Superior Zoo

- Year Round Ice Skating at the "new" Duluth Heritage Sports Center
- Swimming at Park Point Beach
- Over 4 miles of the Duluth Lakewalk Along the Shores of Lake Superior

Additionally there are numerous facilities throughout the City available for softball, tennis, soccer, baseball, basketball, horseshoes, hockey, ice skating, and bocce.
