Lower Chester

Project Status: Planning for the Lower Chester Mini-Master Plan is currently underway. As soon as an updated schedule is available, this website will be updated.

Project Overview: 

The 2012 City Council approved Mini-master Plan is being updated as a result of a request from stakeholder groups in order to meet the current usage trends of Lower Chester Park.

The guiding principles of the planning process:

1. Provide opportunities to connect the community physically and socially.
2. Provide a high quality experience for all users.
3. Provide a safe park experience for users of all ages and abilities.
4. Be economically responsible .
5. Be environmentally sustainable.
6. Reducing barriers for park use, access and programs.

  • Gather Neighborhood Input
    • Public Meeting #1 (Sept. 14, 2017)
    • Online Survey open for comment (Open until Wednesday, October 11, 2017)
  • Refine Draft Mini-Master Plan
    • Revisions based on comments from Public Meeting #1, Survey findings and ongoing discussions with user groups.
    • Post revised Draft Mini-Master Plan for Public Comment (Posted by TBD for a two-week comment period)
    • Public Meeting #2 : September update to Parks Commission (September 13, 2017)
    • Public Meeting #3: October update to Parks Commission (October 11, 2017)
    • Public Meeting #4: November Mini-Master Plan draft presentation to Parks Commission (November 8, 2017)
    • Two week Public Comment Period: November 27 - December 8, 2017
    • Public Meeting #5: December update to Parks Commission (December 13, 2017)
  • Finalize Mini-Master Plan
    • Make any needed revisions based on comments received during the Public Comment Period and Parks Commission Meeting
    • Presentation of Final Mini-Master Plan to City Council
  • Public Meeting #6- City Council Meeting (January 2018)
