Planning & Preliminary Design Phase
Next Public Meeting: The December 3 meeting is cancelled due to weather, and will be rescheduled after the holidays.
The City of Duluth is planning to reconstruct Superior Street, including all underground utilities, from 6th Avenue W to 4th Avenue E. The existing brick pavers, installed over 20 years ago, are at the end of their lifespan. In 2013, portions of the bricks were removed and replaced with asphalt due to the extent of deterioration. This temporary solution was initiated with the understanding that a long-term design process would be undertaken. As the existing water and sewer lines were first installed in the 1880s and 1890s, they will also be replaced during the street reconstruction.
The Planning and Preliminary Design Phase will be completed by the end of 2014, with Final Design being conducted in 2015. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2016.
