Over the past couple of years a group of concerned citizens and police officers have been working to form a non-profit foundation for the Duluth Police Department. Several Law Enforcement agencies from around the country including Minnesota have employed foundations to keep up with ever changing crime trends, and shrinking municipal budgets. Foundations provide a funding source for necessary technologies, training, and programs that are not essential budget items.
The mission of the Duluth Police Foundation is to create partnerships which funds and supports community safety initiatives, technology, and training for the Police Department and citizens of Duluth, to keep Duluth a safe and inviting city for all.
The Duluth Police Foundation will be holding its launch party on October 17th from 1700-1900 hours at Clyde Iron Works to introduce the organization to the greater community. We really need your support to get us off the ground. This will be a casual event displaying historical items from our past as a department, our present equipment, and what the foundation can do to keep moving us forward as an organization and as a community. For only 5 bucks a ticket or 20 for the family you can eat some pizza, have a beverage, and support the organization that is going to help support our police department and community.
