City of Duluth Trail Update: 2012 Flood
The following is the current City of Duluth Parks and Recreation trails condition update:
Mission Creek Trail System closed for good until COGGS builds their new trails. The "creek" now looks like Knife River. Road GONE to debris catcher, mud slides on trails. MNDOT to replace road (will be building a new road) All trails inaccessible due to slides, etc.
Irving Bike Path - is undercut and part of the trail is gone. Closed until further notice.
Congdon Park Boulevard is closed until further notice.
All ski trails EXCEPT HARTLEY are closed until further notice for walking (lots of culverts out on all trails, some bridges as well)
Amity Creek Trail is closed until further notice. (several slides, etc.)
Chester Park Trails are closed for hiking until further notice.
The Superior Hiking Trail in Duluth AND Jay Cooke is closed until further notice. We will reopen section by section as repairs are completed.
Trails in Hartley Park from the nature center to the pond are closed until further notice. All other trails, including Hartley Road, are open.
COGGS biking trails across the city are closed until further notice to allow them to completely dry out.
Snowmobile trails across the city are closed until further notice. Severe washouts and missing bridges or structures.
The Munger Trail is closed until further notice.
The Western Waterfront isn't too bad. It is probably open, but use caution.
