On Sunday, October 14th, 2012 Duluth Police were called to 1st Avenue East and 8th Street by a cab driver who had just been robbed. Initial investigation revealed the cab driver picked up the two suspects in West Duluth and while dropping them off one suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The second suspect started to choke the victim, but he broke free and ran. The suspect with the gun ran after him and fired a shot, caught up to him and took an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects were last seen running eastbound on 8th Street. The cab driver was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for a minor injury from being choked.
Duluth Police are following up on several leads. Anyone with any information is asked to call 911. The investigation is active and no further information is available at this time.
UPDATE:
Through further investigation, using information from witnesses, the victim and images captured from a surveillance camera, Duluth Police Investigators developed two suspects.
On Wednesday, October 17th, 2012 at 8:39 AM Duluth Police Investigators located a 17 year old juvenile male suspect in the 4400 block of West Fourth Street. He was taken into custody, brought to Duluth Police Headquarters and interviewed. He was then transported to the Arrowhead Juvenile Center and lodged pending formal charges of 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery and 2nd Degree Assault.
On Thursday, October 18th, 2012 Duluth Police Investigators located the second suspect in the 100 block of West First Street. He was identified as Paul Rowe, an 18 year old, male resident of Duluth. He was transported to the Saint Louis County Jail pending formal charges of 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery and 2nd Degree Assault.
This remains an active investigation. No further information is available at this time. |
