New Parks & Recreation Public Input Initiative

The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation held a series of public meetings which solicited citizen's opinion on city park and trail priorities. Parks and Recreation completed a comprehensive Parks Master plan in December 2010 and is completing a Trails/Bikeways Master Plan in early fall. The people of Duluth, as part of the Parks Master Plan process, stated the need for additional resources on the city's parks and trails/bikeways systems. The City would like to know what you love about the city's parks and trails/bikeways system and how do we build a parks and trails/bikeways system that we can afford. In addition the City would like to find out from the public what you would like to see invested in and completed if there were extra resources/funding available.

Outdoor recreation provides a variety of community benefits, but understanding which benefits you think are most important will help us manage parks and trails accordingly. What benefits do you think are the most important to your community?

If a specific amount of money was available each year to spend on improvements at parks and trails, how would you like to see it spent?

How would you distribute this money to different parks and trails projects?

Think about people you know who don't use parks and trails - what do you think would encourage them to start using parks and trails?

What do you think the main goals for parks and trails should be over the next 5 years?
